I am looking for details on the Grumman F4F Wildcat. Preferably from someone who had access to one, like in a museum or so. Apart from flying myself all my life (airline and GA) I have also been an avid model airplane builder since 10 Years of age. Currently I am building a 10ft Grumman Wildcat, scale 1 to 4, which will be powered with a 250c Radial engine (MOKI for those who are in this world also).
I see on many pictures from the underside that the LH wing sports a "landing light" ? Anyhow it is flush with the wing. I suppose it could be rotated outside to look into the direction of flight, but I yet have to find a picture showing that. If anyone could post here one, or send the reference where I can find it, would be of great help.
I am also trying to find the diameter of the lens so I can build one in scale proportions and functional.
attached picture is of another one, already into flying status.
