The F4F-3 had a good 2 stage 2 speed mechanically driven General Electric supercharger for it's P&W R-1830 which gave the Wildcat relatively good high altitude performance, why couldn't that supercharger have been adapted to the Allison V-1710 to give it better high altitude performance which was sorely lacking.

The P&W R-1830 had, I believe, a P&W 2 stage supercharger, not one from General Electric.
Why not adopt it for the V-1710?
Because the critical altitude may have been higher than the V-1710's supercharger, particularly the early versions, but I doubt the supercharger could provide enough air at the boost required to feed the V-1710.
