Captured/Test/Hybrid Aircraft

40-1.jpgApologies if i am repeating any existing topic threads but i thought it might be interesting to showcase some of the more bizarre custom/hybrid/modified aircraft of ww2.


And what better example than this captured Spitfire being wedded to a Daimler Benz 605 engine and Bf 109 nose/cowling/spinner. I first came across this oddity in a book about rare/experimental aircraft. But as far as i know it was only a test for practical purposes/evaluation. Probably a good thing as in my opinion it likes rather like an abomination to what was and is one of the most beautiful and elegant fighters ever designed and mass produced. 


Everyone please feel free to add/post any other unusual ww2 machines...
