As a citizen of a small nation of aprox. 5 million inhabitants I would like to present you of the intriguing question: How many olympic medals do you expect Your closest 5 million community to harvest this year?
Several? Few? None?
To avoid directly bragging, those who might be interested in a comparison, the Danish Olympic harvest through time is to find at: https://en.m.wikiped...at_the_Olympics!
I noticed a sports commentator saying that the Danes are competetive in sports where the athlets are sitting (bicycling; rowing and sailing) but women's handball and trapshooting have been victorious too.
Danish female swimmers are succesfull in international tournaments: Top-5 girls have collected a total of 127 international medals (of wich the 58 in gold) since 2008, however they have only seen one Olympic (bronze) in the period. Hence hopes are high around them too.
The risk of an empty medal-basket this year aren't to debate, as Denmark already has received a silver medal in road-bicycling!
I'll finish with some bragging even so: My local community, a midsized Danish township with a population of aprox. 50.000 have raised 3 olympic winners: All sailing a Soling-class boat in the '92 olympics - The skipper, Jesper Bank doing it again in '96 with another crew!
