Just seen a programme that claimed the MiG 25 was largely based on the Avro Arrow - size, shape and performance were similar. allegedly the KGB infiltrated the factory, and this is why it was killed so quickly and totally.

But were they that similar? Looking at the aircraft how likely is this claim?

Mid into the wikipedia article about the Arrow is following sentence to find:
"The Royal Canadian Mounted Police feared that a Soviet "mole" had infiltrated Avro, later confirmed to some degree in the Mitrokhin archives."!
To Me they are much lookalikes!

A number of 'Arrow' sites point to considerable US political/commercial pressure being used to erase the Avro Arrow.

Wrt MiG 25 - there are similarities: large, twin jet, shoulder mounted delta wing, but also differences: single fin vs twin fin, aluminium construction vs nickel steel. More likely convergence due to physical constraints.
