Hi,

I've recently been to Warsaw and had a chance to stop by the Muzeum Wojska Polskiego (Polish Army Museum). There are quite a few items in display here, including World War Two planes and tanks. Inside you can also find an interesting exhibition about the Battle of Britain (with a focus on the Polish airmen contribution).

As I go trough the pictures, I will be uploading them at this location - It does take some time to go through them!

Hi Paolo,

Interesting pictures! Thanks for sharing!

How many World War II planes does the museum have?

Cheers,

Darius.

Since Pe-2 was mentioned:
At a point I've saved this picture of an alternative ground attack armed Pe-2.

Is that the precursor of the A-10, Armand?

From my memory: It's not 30mm's but the 7,62 PPSh-41 submachinegun wich had a practical high rate of fire for this use. The sub'guns are mounted in a given number (count it Yourself).
A strike would cover 40 meters wide and about 200 meters along :-o
However, the infamous drum magazine made it a hell to re-load and alone the man-hour to reload the 71-shot drum caused it ineffective and the idea was cancelled!
But it surely looks impressive :-o

AWW!
Selfcorrect: It was the TU-2, not the Pe-2! :-(

Armand,

Do not duck and run. It does not matter. The idea of the gun's abilities is the focus here. Grab a wine, lager, pint or whatever does the trick and watch this:

I was aware of the gunships and their origin, however I'm surprised by the numbers of AC-47's in action as I've always considered it as few experimentals :-o
