My oldest WW2 flight sim is "Dambuster." (circa the original F-15 Strike Eagle, I never did bust that dam Dam)

I just discovered IL-2 also. Flying the planes was challenging at first, then I somehow "got it" and greatly reduced my stalls and spins. I really love the La-3's and La-5. Especially the 2 x 20mm's (I'm not really fond of the 2x MG's and 1x Cannon approach)

I've read some heated debates on IL-2 forums that American planes aren't modeled well for Boom & Zoom. Although a Zero should never dive with a Corsair, it's been my experience that people will focus more on vertical attributes and miss the historical context. US aircraft often enjoyed the ability to escape trouble and go home. That's as important to the "Kill Ratio" as shooting down planes. Team tactics were also very important to the US and people often overlook that now.

But then, I don't even have Pacific Fighters so who am I to talk.
:)
I'll have to upgrade hardware before I jump from IL-2 to PF.

I'd really love to here anyone's impressions of the additional aircraft.

I would prefer IL 2 Forgotten Battles and the Add-on Ace Expansion Pack
including great a/C like the finish gladiator (JV8), the Bf 110, the me 163, the B-17/Fw 200 C-3, which you can not fly, however it makes a lot of fun to attack onr of those large bombers with a "Langnase" ;)

Worth to buy the addon, so IL 2 FB becomes much more better then before.

I'm really impressed with the low level performance of the clipped wing Spitfires, they're not that fast but they are sure easy to throw around. The 4 Cannon SpitV has unbelievable firepower and must have been a feared opponent.
cheers

I wish I still had Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe. I'd settle the Do335 vs. P-38 debate.

You can get Battlehawks, Their Finest Hour, and SWOTL as a package now, but I'm too into IL-2.

Last night I flew a mission in a Me109. A Yak messed me up pretty good. His cannon blew holes in my fuselage so big I could see through to the otherside. I landed safely with a 2 IL-2's downed. 30mm 108 gun pods are nice.

In general yes, but if you find some friends that will set their server to help you out and you turn your settings a little lower then is nice you can fly, but you might suffer from lag which seriously screws up what you see , it can be done though especaly if your friends with somebody that has a server that they will set so not to kick you for a bad ping..it can be done , i did it before i got high speed. here is a excellant place for good info , this place used to be known as "mudmovers"it realy is a great site
