We are looking for exact dates the different versions of the spit 1st showed up in combat? most of all the mark 9. please any info on the would be great. i have found some info but nothing for sure. thank you all.

What I have is a timeline that compares Spitfire vs Me109 evolution ... but it only permits to state the month when a version appeared, without anymore "resolution". If you are searching exact "days", I think I cannot help. However if u like me to write that timeline, tell me and I'll do here.

A long time ago but did you do the timeline as I would be interested as I am looking at when the Merlin Marks were introduced in response to German improvements...

A quick look at the Serial Numbers of Spitfires,

Spitfire Mk IX (Merlin 61) BR581 and BR596 went to 64 Squadron on June 22 1942. Both FTR ops on Oct 11 1942. BR602 delivered to 64 Squadron on July 11 1942 FTR ops on Sept 7 1942.
