The Bf109E of the Russell Aviation Group was slightly damaged when it hit a metal pole someone deliberately placed at the end of the runway.

I hope it is repaired and flying again soon. I am very cruious as to how if possibly could have struck a pole.
WW2 fighters takeof and climb very well; it SHOULD have been able to clear any obstacles easily. Perhaps the pole was so new that the pilot had never flown from the runway with the pole in that position before.
Anyway, there are sufficient wings and sheet metal skills to fix almost anything short of a bent main spar, so maybe it'll be repaired quickly.

Damage doesn't look that bad Greg.

The field the 109 took off from is the RAG's own airfield.

Ya ,the guy that owns the property behind the runway was a dink all weekend he put up tall flag poles so the aircraft had to fly higher ,he also put out a sciccor lift. And on Sunday he tried to block the planes by blocking the end of the runway with his four wheeler .The police where then called in !
The RAG was putting on a small air show.

You're right, doesn't look too bad, considering.
It'll fly again soon.
